The Travel Industry

One of the most profitable industries operating on a global scale these days is travel. The travel industry can be subdivided into three main sectors namely commuting, business travelling, and leisure travelling. Among the three, commuting is the most popular based on the frequency of utilisation. However, both business- and vacation-related travels compete against each other in terms of monetary yields. In a year, millions of cash disbursements account to travel spending by people of different cultures and races.

The main challenge of the travel industry these days is how to respond to the issue of global warming and other environmental concerns. Some players in the travel industry donate some amount to compensate for their share of carbon footprint emitted in the atmosphere. Some transport companies opt to use biodiesel to run their vehicles on in order to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and to lessen air pollution. Other people do their share to protect the environment by using bicycles and mechanical vehicles that do not use any fuel to run on. Over all, the stakeholders of the travel industry collectively do their share in order to maintain a good environmental status.
